Our story

Wavenet is a Belgian IT Engineering Services Company (SSII) founded in August 1999 by Jean‑Noël Wallez and Jean‑Marc Vanbel.
Back then: two founders, two small offices, a few computers… and one strong idea, to build IT solutions that are useful, pragmatic, and built to last.

Since day one, Wavenet has remained a family‑driven adventure: still guided by the Wallez family, the company fosters a human‑centered, sincere approach, staying close to both its teams and its clients.

Expertise born in the telecom sector

In its early years, Wavenet developed solutions for Nokia France, SFR, and Orange France. The company quickly broadened its scope to include banking, industry, energy, and public administrations.

As needs evolved, Wavenet evolved with them.
Tailor‑made solutions became, and remain, our core identity.

Today, Wavenet has more than 250 team members: developers, analysts, architects, consultants, trainers…

Growth, diversification and new horizons

1999: Wavenet is founded by Jean‑Noël Wallez and Jean‑Marc Varbel.
The journey begins with a clear vision: supporting companies in their technological transformation with a human and pragmatic approach.

2001: Arrival of the first employee, still part of the team today.
A strong symbol of loyalty, knowledge‑sharing, and the family spirit that has defined Wavenet from day one.

2002: Thanks to Nokia, Wavenet secures its first major French client.
This marks the company’s initial expansion into the telecommunications sector, an important milestone in its development.

2006: Leaving the apartment office to move into the house on Avenue de la Libération.
A physical sign of growth, powered by a larger team and increasingly ambitious projects.

2007: Creation of the Business Intelligence team, the first step toward major diversification.
This is followed by Big Data, consulting services, web platforms, Intranets, and Extranets, positioning Wavenet as an end‑to‑end partner in digital transformation.

2010: Launch of Wavenet France, a strategic move to support clients across the border and meet the demands of growing international projects.

2016: Moving into the offices on Rue de l’Artisanat, marking solid and sustained growth.
Wavenet now counts 63 team members. A new chapter begins, driven by structure, innovation, and long‑term vision.

2020: Wavenet wins 1st place at the Trends Gazelles awards, a strong recognition of its dynamism and growth.

2021: Wavenet earns the Great Place to Work certification, reflecting the company’s commitment to workplace quality and employee wellbeing.

2022: Launch of the first AI team project, marking a new strategic step in technological innovation.

2024: Integration of Tessares, a recognized player in network technologies, strengthening the group’s R&D capabilities.

2025: Creation of several specialized Business Units, designed to better structure expertise and strengthen client proximity.
In the same year, Pierre Focant joins the company as CEO, ensuring continuity following the passing of Jean‑Noël Wallez.
A new generation gradually steps into leadership roles, honoring the company’s family spirit while bringing a modern and ambitious vision.

2026: Inauguration of the new offices located in Héron.

Today: Wavenet has over 250 employees, supports 122 clients, and generates more than €34 million in revenue.
